Shadow Perspective

In shade I may be faded,
Biding my time until full sun
when I can see into your soul,
Yet I never truly leave.
I know the smiles that cross your lips
never reach dead eyes.
I feel the hate you bear
the doubt, the fear
and watch it grow,
expand to blot compassion
from your heart.

In sunshine you may walk
