Just One More High

by Nate Campbell   Aug 12, 2026

As I walk into the bedroom,
And look around the scene.
I get a glimpse of fear and death,
Of what should not have been.

It seems there was an epic brawl,
between two violent souls.
A broken table, busted lamps
And walls so full of holes.

And as I turn to look behind,
What is it, that I see?
But blue lips and pin point pupils,
Staring right back at me.

A panic rises deep within,
I see the powder trail.
My eye sight blurs and soul returns,
As my heart begins to fail.

I attempt to yell for someone,
But sounds I make no more.
Cause my Narcans on the nightstand,
And I’m stuck on the floor.

I thought if I had one more high,
That it would be my last.
I thought that I would give it up,
And leave it in the past.

But here I lay, slipping away,
From everything I know.
And I let out one final breath,
And feel my soul let go.

I thought I had all of the time,
To begin recovery.
But all it took is one more high,
To end it all for me.
