Not trying to die, trying to live

Life is unfair in ways we’ll never understand.
It takes people we love without warning,
without reason, without a plan.

My brother was only eighteen,
a healthy kid with his whole life ahead.
Cancer took away the years he deserved,
leaving a thousand words unsaid.

Losing him taught me a truth I’ll carry forever:
Tomorrow is a promise no one can make.
Good people leave too soon,
and life can change in a single heartbeat.

So yes, I bought a motorcycle.
And no, it doesn’t mean I’m trying to die.
I know the risks, I know life is fragile,
but I’m not ready to simply watch it pass me by.

I’m not chasing death.
I’m chasing the feeling of being alive.
Because I’ve seen how precious life is,
and I know none of us is guaranteed more time.

I’ll be careful. I’ll respect the road.
I know there are risks I cannot control.
But living means more than avoiding every danger;
it means making memories while we still have a soul.

I lost my brother before his life had truly begun.
I know firsthand that tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone.

So love a little harder. Hold on a little longer.
Say what matters while people are still here.
Don’t wait for loss to teach you the value of living,
or let the fear of tomorrow steal the beauty of today.

I’m not trying to die. I’m trying to live.
Because I know how precious this life is,
and how little time we’re promised to live it.
