How does the devil look?

by Rachel Ellison   Jul 22, 2004

He’s a swollen belly on a starving child,
the tornado that goes on for miles.
he’s a drug addict desperate for a fix,
and the girl on the corner turning tricks.
he’s the child molester, who lives next door,
and the rapist who always wants more.
he’s the drunk driver who kills,
and the teen mother popping pills.
he’s the husband cheating on his wife,
and the mother who takes her child’s life.
he’s the thief who steals,
and the wound that never heals.
he’s the cancer that makes you sick,
and the addiction to the painkillers that can’t be kicked.

Wow, that was amazing. It just . . . I can't say what about it exactly, but that poem really touched me somehow. Great job with it, 5/5.
