Sometimes

by Lipton   Oct 24, 2004

Sometimes, when I look into your eyes,
I see the heavens, and the glorious angels.
And your voice seems like their voices,
Beckoning me to join in their citadels.

Sometimes, when I look into your eyes,
I fear I see the real you,
For there’s lies and deciet,
And I don’t know if I can understand the truth.

Sometimes, when I look into your eyes,
I see a frightened, little girl,
Who hides herself behind a shroud of darkness,
Unwilling to let herself into the world.

Sometimes, when I look into your eyes,
I see an angel sent from above,
Who’s tender touch send me dreaming,
And who’s words were full of love.

Sometimes, when I look into your eyes,
I see darkness and hate,
Toward me, and those around you.
And your words cut me, in crippling rage.

Sometimes, when I look into your eyes,
I don’t know what I see.
Do I love you? Or do I not?
I cannot seem to think.

I thought I loved you,
And now, I’m not sure.
How can I live on,
Not knowing the cure?
