The man

by Jacqui Armstrong   Nov 4, 2004

She was on her way home from school
Walking with friends acting cool
Someone pulled up to the path close
Leant out the window and gave her a rose

“Hello Leah” he said to her
He winked his eye her mind was a blur
“I don’t remember you,” said she
“No, no it can’t be”

Her mind it cleared she took a small step back
She closed her eyes it all went black
The memories came back to her
That face could never be a blur

She remembered it all to well
She remembered the strong aftershave smell.
And that jumper she remembered that
The picture on the car door of a small cat

This man had hurt her so much
Physically mentally he had no soft touch
A flashback of the woods so dark and cold
In his smile that tooth so gold

She held her breath wished him away
But he was still there he was going to stay
She opened her eyes held her bag tight
Ran fast down the road out of sight.

He followed her again in the car
Across his head was a big white scar
The girl towards the ground dropped
Rape is a crime and needs to be stopped
