A boat of hope, made of lead

by Mild insomnia   Nov 9, 2004

Deep within my soul,
There's a ray of hope,
keeping me afloat,
It stops me sinking,
To the depths within,
My own skin.

They just don't understand,
How I can't be, just how they planned,

And with every word they say,
My ship sets sail away,
Until I find my own place,
Somewhere I feel safe.
And with everything they do,
It breaks my heart in two,
This cannonball fell through,
Now my ship's doomed,
And I don't have you,
To hold on to.

The ray of hope fades,
And I'm surrounded by blades,
Thinking of your face,
And how things changed.
You could keep me in my head,
In this sea of deepest red,
But now my's soul's dead,
And that's the end.
