Life Is Just a Metaphor

by Jacob Davis   Nov 15, 2004

Why must I live like this,
A life lived wrong,
Diversity no longer exists.

Shunned away from all humanity,
I keep my head hung,
Struggling to keep my sanity.

I used to try to fit in,
I used to sit in church,
I then realized that true sin comes from within.

To conform to the flock of wasted,
To say you believe,
Only to recruit others and take up space.

Living your life by some shit rules,
Ten to be exact,
But how can you put a number on anything you choose?

“Thou shall love thy neighbor.”
Here’s one for size,
“thou shall jump off a cliff” and I’ll thank you for it later.

Your time is coming to be like me,
I predict an uprising,
The mindless fools will turn, and then we’ll see.

See what’s left or your ridiculous faiths,
Constantly opposing it,
Expecting a “metaphor” to catch you in good grace.

Always trying to explain what you can not see,
Running to the ‘ole book of fairy tails,
To save yourself from your own hypocrisy.
