Holding On

by My Obsεssion   Nov 27, 2004

Holding onto a ledge
And I’m about to fall
Before I’m able to run again
I must first learn how to crawl

Holding onto a memory
And it’s about to be forgotten
What was once so easy to find
Now can’t even be spotten

Holding onto my reality
And it’s about to shatter
What once meant so much
Now doesn’t even matter

Holding onto my sanity
And I’m about to go insane
Trying to break down
What was never meant to tame

Holding onto my sense of balance
And the scale’s about to tip
No longer running through life but walking
And still I am about to trip

Holding onto everything I know
And something’s missing all the same
Hoping to put things back together
When only a couple pieces remain

Holding onto a hope
And of it nothing came
Pointing my finger in many directions
When I’m the one to blame

Holding onto my deceptions
And everything else is gone
My life is no longer warm and meaningful
Yet I keep on holding on

Wow, Erin! This is amazing! It could be about almost anything... I'm not sure exactly what you were writing about, but what jumped out at me is that it is the perspective of someone with Alzheimer's... but you could take almost any malady of life and appropriately apply this to it!

    Excellent work!!
