Crazy Wisdom

by Dani Ward   Nov 29, 2004

Everyone called him crazy,
because he only came out at night,
a seventy-five year old man,
who never saw the light.
they were all afraid of him,
but they didn't know how nice he was,
said "he never comes out in the day,
like an ordinary person does."
but he saved a young teen girl,
on a night the rain came down,
she almost drowned as he friend watched,
helpless in a small quiet town.
she was still afraid of him,
since he never came out in the day,
and everyone called him crazy,
though thanks she did still say.
she heard rumors of a boy and mom,
who were murdered years ago,
and up in her grandma's attic,
an old newspaper told her it was so.
then one night in the cemetary,
the crazy guy was at their grave,
he had been the dad and husband,
but their live he couldn't save.
he'd come home one night,
after a stop at the bar,
to find them shot by a robber,
and his life it did mar.
so he shared a lesson with her,
that no one had gotten close enough to hear,
even though things happen that you can't change,
you must not shut out the world in fear.

this poem was based on the story of a guy called crazy pete from a movie i saw recently. please vote/comment!!!

Crazy pete, eh? I think that there's someone else a little crazy here! jk. Awesome! I think it's cool that people can tell a whole story in a short poem. Great job! lylab
