On wings of gold

by Mild insomnia   Nov 30, 2004

On wings of gold,

Broken and left alone,
With no place left to go,
A world of hurt and pain,
No sunshine when there’s rain,
But stand and make a change.

Head towards the sky, the clouds will cry,
The world will fall to night, if one should die,
So don’t give up, not tonight.
If ever eastern winds could whisper your name,
Would every single choice made, be the same?
Would you still be here, today?

On wings of gold,
Soar away from the world,
You’re my immortal.

I’ll stand, by your side,
With you through each day and night,
To stand up tall and face the fight,
It’s all right.

But baby look at me,
My knees grazed and dirty,
Wrists covered in blood,
And fists covered in mud,
Steady for what is good.

On wings of gold,
Take flight and save your soul,
You’re my immortal.

Look upon a star, and into space,
I wonder where you are, if in this place,
But swear I’ll see your face.
If rivers had the power to show your fate,
Would you change your mind, or is it too late?
Would you still be here, today?

I’ll stand, by your side,
With you through each day and night,
To stand up tall and face the fight,
It’s all right.

On wings of gold,
Glide up where you know,
You’re my immortal.
