Power in mind

by Poetically Speaking   Dec 3, 2004

There they stand upon a hill
Tall and proud they feel the chill
Men dressed in white
Clad robes
Staffs to their sides
Their minds probe

Down below, a town afire
Men running to the wells
Women screaming in dire
The beast patrols the dim lit streets
Killing and smashing
Eating fresh meat

The chosen few who call aloud
Men in white conjure a cloud
The black sky, thunder and lightning seen through their eyes
Breaks to white
A golden glow
Powerful changes they bestow

A ring of power through a circle in mind
Chanting and mumbling
The beast will find
The power
The power inside

They hold the insatiable, destructible, life bringing force
Their hands together their staffs raised
They drought the feeling of remorse

Changes smelt in the air
The beast snarls at the men with a glare
His claws bloody red, his fur on edge
The salvia in his mouth reeks of death

A roar he bestows upon the town
The children crying
The priests no where to be found

Pain, struck in the back of the beast
Hellish fire exposed beneath
With a grasp of his hand and a bellow of his breath
A wave of terror sweeps full of death

Blood drenched
Angered with sin a time to kill
A time to begin
The chosen few who stand proud turn to the beast and do as they vowed
Giving their souls to the end
Their power to the beast they do extend

One last charge, a gust of light
The townspeople look and see a sight
The beast vanquished, the monster vanished
The men of clad white to heaven are banished
The town is safe once again
There is no more evil
Thanks to the circle of men

I liked it. I liked your imagery and choice of words, i also liked how you told a mystical story. It's sort of a haunting fairytale, i admire that. you poured alot of detail into the beast that portrayed his charactor. pretty good.
