I sit where we can’t compare
a slow and moving fear
your words wash ashore
your voice is all I hear

I watch you from afar
standing in another place
if I could be a new person today
I don’t think I'd keep the same face

its just another reason why we always make up lies
to please not only you
but to hide behind our disguise

if I could hide deep from all of the pain
I wonder if I'd ever remain the same
is it true what I feel
or is it just another lie
something I've been made to believe
something asking why

where we go from here my loving image
my only true friend
the one who is always there
is a path that leads to the end

if I could hide from the pain forever
would anyone but you care?
would I really be safe?
or would I still feel despair?

I live a lie
a mask is all I am
a different reflection of what I truly fear
if I could be a different image
I would go back to those lost years
to find the real truth
and bury my forgiving tears
