A soul so black

by Mild insomnia   Dec 8, 2004

Confused shapes above my head
Blurred images
(Smudged with red)

I lay, destroyed
Shadows avoid
Drawing near
For they fear
My essence
The luminescence
Evanescence
Of my soul’s quintessence

For my heart’s cold
My spirit’s ardent
To some extent

The one thing
That makes me exist
My soul - an anarchist
And you think
I’m so perfect – a saint
But I’m nothing so quaint

I hide the things that make me breathe
So that you can believe
(Have faith in me)

In purest hatred for the light
In lust for the distinct night

I’m simply
A rebel deity
Trapped in a girl’s body
I’m only
Looking for an escape
To save my soul before it’s too late

But your love had encircled my heart
Tearing my head and my spirit apart
Lighting the flames that burn out the dark
Consuming my core with your alluring remarks

You’ve fallen in love with a girl that once was
However her mind and her feelings were lost
Where there was warmth I smothered with frost
She lost hopes and dreams in the holocaust

Hopes and wishes and memories of you
Burned in the rivers that melted right through
Her ideas and plans of a future that’s soon
Drowned in the winds that turned her heart blue.
