Grandfather

by MariSylvano   Dec 10, 2004

Grandfather, you lived a million miles from me,
Across the sea in a place far away,
I saw you once; ten years ago,
In that time I've grown and grown,
I remember that May Day three years back,
A day when the world to me turned black,
As my mother came and took a deep breath
Told me of your sudden death,
I looked at my father, sobbing alone,
Looking in disbelief at the phone,
He couldn't believe his father had died,
I saw the intense pain he had in his eyes,
I saw something I'd never seen him do,
I saw him cry, and he cried for you,
He went on a plane to say goodbye,
Say I love you Dad for the very last time,
I miss you Grandfather, I miss your laugh,
I miss the times we had that passed,
I hope you're happy wherever you are,
And I'm thinking of you living, among the stars
