Sitting in Church

by AGirlWorthFightingFor   Dec 11, 2004

I recall sitting in church
a mixed church
of numerous denominations
but God was still here
He follows me everywhere
because His Kingdom
is on Earth
I recall moments bowed in prayer
People begin shouting
Strange tongues
become demons to me
and the speaker sways
back and forth, unprofessional
Their faces grow hideous
and their lips speak words of acid
I turn to You, my Defense
but you only turn your head
and smile
Then I see you shouting
Strange tongues
The speaker sways,
so You dance with her
With You, their faces
become like Yours
My eyes open
My ears listen
I sit back and love all I see
and I look once more
You are beside me
and all is well.
