Oak Tree

by Amanda   Dec 19, 2004

A mother gives birth to a beautiful child.
On one cold and lonesome day.
Twelve hours of pain
emitting such beautiful array.

Loving her child dearly
she holds her new daughter so.
Tears of joy, streaming down her face.
As her daughter looks at her
with such a beautiful glow

Each second passing
like it was forever it had seemed
Holding her daughter sweetly
like it was something she had never dreamed.

It was the month of a new October
the day her child was born.
She knew she would love her child forever.
And that their love would never be torn.

She awaits the day
that her baby girl
would soon be able to go home.
Now without her baby girl
she always felt alone.

Her baby girl is home
and she is taken to their yard
The mother sits under a big oak tree
emitting tears so thick and hard.

Her family takes a rest
and they leave the mother alone.
This tree was where they sat
and this is where their love has grown.

The daughter is now older
she is about the age of three.
Her mother is gone at work
and she is sitting underneath the tree.

Her mother comes home
a little later that night.
As she looks to see her daughter.
And she holds her oh so tight.

They sit underneath the tree.
And her baby girl is fast asleep
So many times underneath this tree.
It's as if in the ground they begin to seep.

Now the age of eight
and her mother is away
she sits underneath the tree
knowing this is where she'll stay.

It's a lonely day in October
and her mother still hasn't arrived.
She sits upon her knees
and from her eyes her tears are derived.

Leaves are all falling on the ground
and a storm soon does take place
As her daughter sits there looking at the tree.
With stained tears upon her face.

Her mother never comes home
and her father rushes outside.
He picks up his baby girl
as their thoughts soon do collide.

But her baby doesn't say anything
she just sits there staring at the tree.
She pushes away her father
and wishes for her to be let be

Know one can even tell
if she's crying or if it's rain.
The father is inside
trying to remain sane.

The little baby girl
sits upon the tree
a leaf falls to the ground
And her head rests upon her knees.

Like a resulting death of vision
A permanent picture in her mind
never being able to see her mother
she chooses to remain blind.

All the leaves falling off the tree.
One by one they all break off
She picks up a leaf and holds it to her heart
Feeling so warm and so soft.

It was like everything that did take place.
Took place in such slow motion
Viewing it like a movie
in her heart was a sudden explosion.

She had never felt pain
since the day that she was born
She thought the love between herself and her mother would never ever be torn.

But on this day, this lonely month.
She felt a huge amount of pain
Tears coming out of her eyes
as much as all the rain.

She could never feel the same
she always felt so cold
But the image in her mind
stood out so bright and oh so bold.

Day after day she sat by the tree.
And she was all alone
and day after day the love for her mother
continued, and had grown.

Year after year
she collected the leaves
that she kept in a secret box
And on this very box
was a very special lock.

As she grew older
her visits to the tree
became seldom and very rare
She grew up into such a beautiful women
with a face that was oh so fair.

Soon she created a life
and this life she took to the tree.
But being diagnosed with cancer
their love had to be distant and set free.

The mother died of cancer
when the daughter was only three.
she buried her right next to her mother
in front of the old oak tree.

The love between a mother and daughter
is a love so strong to hold.
And the love between this mother and daughter
is exactly what was told.
