My Magic Box (Alternate Version suggested by Morgan Boyd)

by Ð맆îñ¥   Dec 19, 2004

My box is made of
Shattered glass, with cooling crystals of icy snow,
Snowflakes on the lid and happiness in the corners.
Its hinges are made from giants’ hands.

I will put in my box
Rivers of lemonade cascading down
Chocolate mountains from heaven,
Entering a city of sweets.

I will put in my box
A unicorn with a lion’s roar,
A lion with a pointy horn,
A dog takings his master for a walk.

I will put in my box
A Scottish pig that speaks silly Spanish,
The thin gossamer wings as a butterfly spins,
The yellowy green sun that slowly shines.

I shall ride in my box
As if on a black stallion
Over a sea of deep blue to Africa,
And then float back to England on a raft.

I think your original version was MUCH better. The progression of this fantasy had far more impact when the reader's imagination was left to wander about the essence of the box until it is described near the end of the poem.
