Calling 141

by Mild insomnia   Dec 22, 2004

My mask’s grown too thin,
And my lies are creeping in,
In this realm of deceits,
And tales that never seemed so sweet.

But I know the truth,
Before the costumes came to use.

Calling 141,
Don’t you agree that the world’s too far-gone?
I’m the voice behind the false,
As demons waltz,
And it’s our fault.

Across a dance floor,
Their feet scratch at the scores,
Slicing into our homes,
And leaving us, as empty souls.

Have you forgotten?
The place we knew, for it’s condemned.

And calling 141,
Just dialling anyone,
Is nobody still there?
Does no one care?
Are you aware…?

Of the constant plays in this town,
The actors slowly falling down,
Jokers sit upon thrones with stolen crowns,
And there’s no way out.

No one’s free,
No one can leave,
For there’s nothing to do,
No blood left to bleed,
And it’s got too tough.

Can’t you see? (Calling 141)
Weren’t you happy? (The world’s too far-gone)
With you being you, (The voice behind the false)
And me being me, (As demons waltz)
Is it just not enough? (It’s our fault)

Why, in this society must we all hide behind masks? It’s hard enough to be who you are, and even harder to be something your not. Peace.
