Eyes Wide Open

With my eyes wide open
I now see
So many of our mistakes
Sitting infront of me

Now looking at us
We weren’t what I thought
Our problems first hand
I caught

Thinking of all those times
When you had your chances to lie
But after I caught in your first
You begged for a second try

My eyes were shut but
Now fully aware
All those lied to me you fed
As if you really did care

My eyes are open
And I’m smarter than before
I won’t be missing you
And that’s one thing that’s for sure

I may not be over you yet
But as I look back more and more
I understand
More of what I left you for

I see the guy
I denied was there when people told me he was
I thought "Oh please,
That’s not something he does"

After awhile
You weren't the person I knew
So I had to let go of the best love
I had, and say we're through

It was hard
But It will get better with each day
There so many things to you
I still wish to say

So as I move on
Eyes wide open and all
I can hold my head up
And finally walk tall

    Hey this was a great poem. I like it, as i read it i felt the betrayal in the relationship, the lies and the blindness of love. But at the end when sight is gained u escape the lie. I really like this all the way.
