Power of Words

I feel the need to write,
a poem to create,
another unique work of art,
the craving I cant sedate.
writing is so wonderful,
to me it means so much,
a way to express who i am,
to escape Life's cruel touch.
i spend so much time,
playing with my words,
throwing them together,
making them fly like birds.
i try to take them,
and turn them into something new,
something with great power,
make them seep into you.
try to make a masterpiece,
try to touch your heart,
try to create new feelings,
all throughout your heart.
i could write a thousand words,
and never say a single thing,
never cause any stir at all,
in your head they'd never ring.
yet i could write but a few,
choice and powerful ones,
and it would make your heart cry out,
with the power of a thousand suns.
it all depends on you and me,
what write, what you feel,
will i use the right words,
to make your mind reel.
words are such a powerful tool,
used in just the right way,
make someone cry all night,
or be filled with joy all day.
the emotions they evoke,
the way they make you feel,
never know what they will do,
or if they're even real.
poems are just one way,
that words can be used,
but you could make a song,
with the power of words infused.
even a simple phrase,
spoken at the right time,
can cause thing to happen,
not even having to rhyme.
some people spend their life,
without ever touching a heart,
don't leave anything behind,
no wisdom do they impart.
maybe they won't make a difference,
or change a single thing,
but I'll leave behind my poems,
when i disappear on angel wings.
