Wont Mend (Not really slang, damn spell check)

by Kaitlin Kristina   Feb 2, 2005

I knew the pain would fizzle out,
That my broken heart would mend,
And that’s the thought that kept me going,
From reaching my wits end.

I knew that there would come a day,
When your thought would not dash through my mind,
When your name wouldn’t linger on my lips,
And I wouldn’t miss you all the time.

But that day never came.

And I’m sorry to say,

That the thoughts have to end,

And it must be today.

Because my love is in vain,
Blinding pain,
Puncturing sorrow,
And I cant live through tomorrow,

If you are the first thing I think of when I open my eyes,
And a tear starts to fall because I remember the times,
That your arms were around me,
And you would tenderly kiss,
A soft touch on my lips that I couldn’t resist,
And now it’s gone,
Your warmth and your kiss,
So as I drink you away,
I promise you this,

If you had stayed,

And not said good-bye,

I wouldn’t have to live,

My life through a lie,

I wouldn’t have vodka,
As my best friend,
But now it must be,
Because my heart won’t mend.

The titles not fantastic... but I couldnt think of a better one so it won by default. Comments and votes are helpful! Thank you

Thanks Aaron, I dont recommend vodka as a friend either... loyal, yes, but destructive.

Sad stuff....btw, I don't recomend vodka as a friend, it never ends well. Yet I can completely understand trying to drown away the memories, yet it never seems to help.
    Great poem, keep it up
