Once Upon A Time

by Momentary Relapse   Feb 9, 2005

Before there was a little girl
She wore many colors bright
A smile always on her lips
Her eyes the morning light

Everyday she was radiant
A beauty unlike anyone
Bright were her dimpled cheeks
Her smile the midday sun

She was a perfect angel
The prettiest one of all
The one who had good grades
Someone who’d never fall

Her life had been perfect
Never had been anything wrong
So simple and great
Her life perfect for so long

One day she met a man
He treated her like dirt
Never seemed to care
Made her feel so hurt

Lied and said he loved her
Promised his love would last
Beat her black and blue
The bruising was so vast

She hid herself from the world
Refused to venture out
Her perfect life is shattered
She wonder why it came about

Her life is continuing on
With all sorts of shattered dreams
When he comes to her
People can hear her screams

Maybe she’s learned her lesson
That fairytales are all pretend
That some people can’t be trusted
They’ll destroy you in the end

Her perfect life is gone
There’s no more being a little girl
The morning light is dimmed
And her lips will never curl

She goes mechanically in life
A poor broken soul
Because of one mistake
She has lost all control
