I Know This

by Minkus   Feb 17, 2005

I'm young, I know
I'm just fourteen
But I know this:
Life is short, I can tell
There's not time to do everything.
So don't tell me,
“Kid, you don't know anything,”
'Cause I know this:
There’s no time to conform
And be what you want me to be
Don't tell me how to live
It's my life, so let me live
However the heck I want to
And I know this:
You haven't lived much more than me
I know almost as much
But none of us know much
And I know this:
I'll live my life
You'll live yours
And we'll both die
But at the end of the day,
Who will have lived more?
Ask yourself that
And tell me the answer
If you ever find it.

WoW.. I liked this poem. It had a good flow and it should the emotion that you wanted. The emotion was truly amazing and It's true that this life is short and that you should live your way and not any way that someone else wants you to. Good Job.

Ha, I would love to give this poem to my mother someday, but it wouldn't be worth the after effect of doing so, I prefer to remain in one piece. This poem works so well for me because my mother has this idea of a perfect little girl that I should be when we don't see eye to eye about most anything. I wish that she could understand the words of wisdom you have engraved here.
