On the Highway

by Ð맆îñ¥   Feb 23, 2005

On the highway
Lights blazing near
Can’t it reach me?
Suffocation
Dehydration
I’m drowning
Beams, torches searching for me
Feel them blaze my burning skin
Charred life remains
Clouds dampen my spirit
Eyes wide, searching
Hands find me; grip me tight, too tight
Can’t speak
Hugging a deranged form
Trapped in a head like mine
Wailing, moaning
They’re coming
Lights shouting
Read the words
Look at the signs
Read your face
Can’t breathe
Starting to shock
Thuds in my chest
Can you turn the hand?
Like clockwork
Highway blocked
Cars diverted
All of my fate lies here
Waiting for the dice to roll
Catch its chance
Will it snare me? Can they help me?
Cold stones dig my back
Dig some turf
Plant some shadow soil
Can’t all be right
Can’t get up
Roars of scent fill my ears
Am I back?
I feel the embrace
I know you’re here
On the highway
