Hard Memories

by Debra   Feb 27, 2005

When your pulse stopped
To my knees I dropped
Your hands grew cold
But I needed them to hold
I watched your cheeks lose their glow
Since your blood wouldn't flow
Your eyes just stared
Never more had I cared
I didn't want you to leave
I just wanted you to breath
I couldn't let you go
I wouldn't let it be so
But your soul flew away
After I begged it to stay
And I cried until dawn
Because I couldn't move on
Now years have past
They have gone so fast
I come back now to visit you
Although it's hard for me to do
At your grave I lay the flowers down
Giving you your well deserved crown
I have started to see
That you are finally free
My heart has started to mend
But the life you have in me will never end

How sad I am for you if this is true! I'm so glad you are starting to move on! It was an excellent poem! Read some of my stuff if you ever get the chance.
