My Saviour

I see it in your eyes…
I see it in my heart…
This illness deep inside of me
It’s tearing me apart

Four years now it has been…
And each day near the same
Waking up with clouded sight
From crying with the pain

Too many stars have fallen
Upon these darkened eyes
Washed away by rolling tears
Caused by all the lies

And now I sit so still…
As look back on my life
The good times and the bad
The recent pain and strife

I've been looking in the past
And I've been looking there too long
I know I have to let go of the hurt
In order to stay strong

I've been reaching out in despair
Hoping that someone would come along
Someone that would finally save me
And help me to carry on

And sure there’s people who've helped…
Who've brought me light to see
But I realise now in my darkest hour
My saviour can only be me

There is no miracle cure…
And I know it will be tough
But I've got to bring myself around
Before this gets too rough

Because if I keep on falling
Then I’m scared I won’t get up
And I never want to go there again:
Where I desperately give up

I've got to end this pain…
And put abuse back in the past
Or else the pain will never subside
And this hurt will only last

Yes the future looks scary…
At the moment it looks so bleak
But I must not let that put me off
Happiness I must seek

No more stars will fall…
Upon my tears tonight
I’m going to end this hurt and shame
I’m going to win this fight
