Mummification

by Shædow Poet   Mar 24, 2005

Escorted into the underworld by Anubis
Roped and bound with burly flaxen twine
With blood asphyxiating
Dampening the dirty cloth.

With no eyes to see the grievance
And a conscious aware of the pain
Nostrils flared from the exiting brain
And a perfume aurora filling the stomach.

Embalm the skeletal wreck of a man;
Once finished processing his decaying figure
Others pray that he will reincarnate
So he could rejoin the mythic civilized.

This piece of dead carnage is locked away
In an encrusted, sacred tomb
Carved is a midnight cat with orange eyes
And scribed hieratic symbols of peace.

In a temple this reformation will lay
Upon its body will be a curse
For any Pharaoh or any peasant
If ever they disturb the holy rest.
