I Guess

by Lisa D Larson   Mar 24, 2005

I guess you could not be my sunshine
When you brought me all this rain
Your smile never parted the clouds
You brought me down like an avalanche,
Pushed me around in a hurricane of rage
And washed me away in the floods.

I guess you never were my true north
You just took me out west
Helped me to lose my way
Now I'm lost in shattered dreams,
With this broken compass, that points south
How can I find my way with no direction?

I guess you were never my biggest fan
You always gave me a bad review
Never giving me the benefit of the doubt
Instead you put me in the spotlight
You never gave me the support I needed
You just let me take the walk of shame.
