The March to Battle (part 1)

by AJ   Mar 31, 2005

Armor is shining,
Banners are flying,
Women are crying,
As they’re beloved,
March off to war.

Hooves beat,
In time with metal feet,
The wind blows,
And the fear shows,
On the faces of all the men
Going on to avenge their kin.

As the captain sits atop his mount,
The men begin to count,
The forces of evil,
The seed has grown,
They have gathered atop his hill,
And now, they must be over thrown.

Arrows rain,
And many fall slain,
And now the charge,
Swords, pikes, and spears,
All the men relinquishing their fears,
The forces of evil atop the hill,
Fall back,
From the attack,
From this,
Their plans could spill,
As they hoped not to get killed.

Metal and steel,
Meet skin and bone,
As they fight it out,
With men shouting about,
They have come to defend their home,
And they will stop at nothing,
To protect the ones they love.

That is the story, of
The March to Battle…

This could be a confusing poem i think. From different places... Like where did it take place. like what years? It sounds like early years, but written to flash back on the wars in iraq. I really liked it. And men and women who fight in the war would apreciate it. Good job!

I like this poem, but the "Metal and steel, Meet skin and bone," part was my favorite. Job well done, 4/5.
