Broken child

by Ash LEIGH   Apr 1, 2005

She's curled up in a corner
her eyes are black and blue
she's tired of his aggression
and his large angry fist too

she'd wish there was someone there for her
to lighten up her tears
like a angel sent down from heaven
to protect her from these fears

for him, he drank too much tonight
and he complains she's in his way
as he forces his drunken words from his mouth
she puts her hands together and prays.

she hates when her daddy gets this way
for they use to be so close
but ever since mommy passed away
he's been withered like a dying rose.

she has bruises and scratches on her
that show her heartache and her pain
but yet telling on her daddy
is what she refrains

she's hoping he will get better
and the hits upon her skin will stop
because many words have gone unspoken
and many dreams she's dropped.

but that night she believed a angel touched her
because she's now safe and sound
she has moved out and moved on
and a new life she has found.
