Secret pain

You don't know her secret pain
she tried to take her life again

when you treated her like dirt
overwhelming grief and hurt

when you looked at her like trash
unworthy of your fag-end ash

when you hit her on the face
like she wasn't in the human race

your anger raised, your temper flared
she's in her room,. left arm bared

one more insult, one more yell
she will escape this living hell

she slashed, she cut, she poured out pain
that was inside her, gently lain

buried deep, she hoped forever
now she sees that she could never

destroy the anger, calm yet rough
that ignoring it was not enough

she hates her life, the plastic mask
which she hides behind when people ask

"how is your life?" -as if they care
why would the ever want to share

a young girls hopes, her fears and dreams
perfect is how her life must seem

super rich, blond hair, blue eyes
yet when at home she cries and cries

and slowly she picks up the knife
waiting till she can end her life

the clock strikes two and in a dream
she slips away with not a scream.
