The True Me

by EJ   Apr 10, 2005

Look at me
What do you see?
Happiness and laughs
Not the true kid underneath

The smile that I make
Its all big and fake
Just to make you think
Everything you see is real

You will never see the real tears
Only when I finally open up at night
When I get ready to make that first slice
After I have pulled out my favorite knife

Then I cry as I sit there in my chair
b/c I know I shouldn't do it
I might really have friends that care
All I would have to do is tell

Everyone thinks my life is great
Her step dads a lawyer I bet she gets everything she wants
They only forgot the biggest thing
Step dad means he isn’t her real dad

My daddy has another life with a different kid
A whole new wife that has fills his whole life
If I visit him I get stuck with her
Never get to spend time with him b/c she is scared of what I’ll do

And Mommy, she has gone crazy
She sometimes drinks a little
She thinks I will never know
But I’m not stupid I can tell

My life isn’t so great once you see the real me
I’ll open up if you really want to see
I’ll tell you each scars meaning
I’ll give you one chance to meet the true me

The introductary stanza and the last really tie this poem together!

Very emotional. It's not the best poem, but some things aren't meant to be what people say they are....

Anyway, I'd have to say this is a 5 because it just seems like it should be. ;)
