American Soldiers

by David Paul   Apr 11, 2005

"Run for cover," shouted the soldier,
Fighting for only hours yet he felt so much older,
The war had brought many to there knees,
Saving few who bargained with god saying please,
They ran for there lives as the shooting began,
This small retreat would leave much to regain,
But these fighters for justice never give up,
All of them brothers sharing the same difficult cup,
Many have died and many more will to,
But sacrifice there lives for peace is what they do,
Protecting our country from terror through and through,
Your the American Soldier and I solute you.

My brothers in the marines and he's gonna be shipped to Iraq soon. This ones for him.

The war had brought many to there knees,
Saving few who bargained with god saying please,
They ran for there lives as the shooting began,

the word 'there' should be replaced with the word 'their'

    also

Many have died and many more will to,

    to should be 'too'

apart from that it was a really good poem, set the atmostphere of the war zone, though could have added more adjectves to really give that flavor.
