Guilty Conscience

by Fighter (Ariane L.)   Apr 12, 2005

As I look back,
I can't help but wonder,
What if I did a mistake,
What if the truth is discovered?

I look back at the body,
His lifeless face staring blankly
Into an unknown world.
What if this was a mistake?

What if they find me guilty?
What if they put me away?
All I did was save society,
I saved every worried parent...

I saved them from a man
Who took pleasure
In stealing their daughter's dignity
In stealing what wasn't his...

I helped all those worried parents,
But what if they condemn me?
I look back at the body
And cannot but feel guilty...

I turn around
And continue my way,
Ignoring the voices in my head,
Ignoring my guilty conscience...
