She used to be the happiest girl.

She used to be the happiest girl, until she lost her grin.
She used to light up a room, whenever she walked in.
She used to make the sun come out and chase the clouds away.
She used to laugh and smile, but things didn't stay that way.

Somewhere along the road, things started to go wrong.
Soon she gave up hope and no longer tried to be strong.
Instead her joy turned to sorrow, as her life fell apart.
She lost track of the times she wished she could go back to the start.

Many nights, when she lay weeping, she remembered what it was like before.
When drugs and drink and cutting, weren't knocking on her door.
When she could deal with her beatings and still put on a happy face.
When she had faith that one day she could forget about that place.

You see, those three deadly addictions changed her life for good.
All the times she'd been cheerful, well she no longer could.
Pot and wine and razors made reality become real.
They re-opened the scars in her heart, and wouldn't let them heal.

Depression hit her hard, like a blow to the head.
Soon the only thing she smiled about was that she'd soon be dead.
The cuts got deeper and deeper, until she hit a vein.
She watched her blood seep out of her, releasing all her pain.

As her finally moments on earth, came closer to an end.
As she left the world, and to heaven began to descend.
She whispered to the people she loved, I'm sorry, I really am.
I'm sorry, I couldn't cope with life, but I hope to God you can.
