Imaginary

by Elynnka   Apr 17, 2005

I wanna tell you about my friend,
Someone honest never to pretend.
Slowly, some day, came toward me
This unknown man would set me free…

When I’m alone and no one’s here,
He holds me tight to erase my fear.
No more tears to shed, won’t cry,
No more wishing I would die…

I talk to him each day,
Giving me advice, he makes it all ok.
In pain, in grief, he’s by my side,
Telling me “At least you tried”…

I talk about him all the time
People listen, think he’s mine,
But surprisingly they’ll find
He does not exist; he’s in my mind…

So there’s no one here for me,
Not a soul to set me free,
No one to make it all ok,
All my pain is here to stay…

**I've put this poem here in the "poems about life" category because only the ones who are ignored have to make up imaginary friends so that they will not be lonely...i hope it is a good poem...please write your comments and tell me what you think, thanks**

It was alright. You could have left out the fifth stanza. It would have ended on a climax if you did. In the 2nd stanza second line you could change "spread" to "shed." When you use "spread" it's as if the imaginary friend creates more fear instead of depleting it. Good work with the third stanza.
