State of Me

by Luke   Apr 28, 2005

This is the State of "Me,"
[I just met the police]
Always questioned "Home,"
Years ago, realizing I was alone
[Almost ended it]
And I still think about it
But I discovered "Life" a little bit,
This is now,
[I hate myself]
Hate my single-mother,
Hate my little-brother,
[Horrible as it sounds]
I know that i have "Friends,"
But then again,
I also have a shrink
He said I was full of anger,
And too much arrogance,
[Wonderful ain't it?]
I got enough jealousy
For the people always leaving me,
Confusion, "Do you care?"
Is it because daddy was never there?
"You're moving out!"
Thats what she always said,
Staying, leaving...
[It really hurt my head]
All these problems,
Are they worth fighting?
And am I weak because I keep on hiding?
A new life, suicide,
[It's a shame I never tried]
Maybe if I never lied,
Maybe I would've died,
But when push comes to shove,
Everytime I've chosen love,
[Or a hope thereof]
So now, in my conclusion,
My grand resolution,
Do I stay?
Do I dare?
Is it right?
[I'll forget fair]
Should I run away,
My bags are packed,
I want to stay,
If only....
[But you embrace me coldly]

I like how you have a different approach to your writing than most of the poets on this dying site. Makes it nice to read something that a poet really takes from his/her heart and the reader is able to relate to it no matter the subject. Very nice poem and thanks for the comments on mine :)

Well done. The lines in inverted commas, and also in brackets were pulled off well in this dark life poem.
    I very much enjoyed it.
My favourite part by far war:
"But when push comes to shove,
    Everytime I've chosen love,
    [Or a hope thereof]"
It was just a smooth running, meaningful stanza.
It was no beautiful masterpiece, but definetely a well described tale of arrogance, annoyance and hate. But tell me: is this true?
