To an unknown god

by erotema   May 4, 2005

oh, men who pray no more, allay your fears,
for God exists in name alone. the Sun
once drown’d that reckless boy, and now appears
to drown itself amidst the sin undone.

that joyous light comes not from heaven’s gate,
but now reflected from some foreign grace.
the Light from high now leads pure man to Fate
and guidance true to see their mirrored face.

what once reigned true now dies a pious fall
from high, as once did Zeus fall far to Crete.
look not to God to wash the sins of all;
look deep within and make thyself complete.

the Light still lives in some revealed form
with mercy spent; no god could be as warm.

    There isn't possibly one thing I could critique; and honestly, this comes as no surprise to me.

    5/5.
