The Tempest

by Red Charm   May 5, 2005

These depressing clouds
Hanging overhead
Without this rain
I would be dead

I planned to take my life
I didn’t want to live
I had a pretty knife
To engrave each wrist

How I got outside
I‘ll never tell
Watching the tempest gather
Till at last the rain fell

Erasing the pain
To find the genuine me
Trying to overcome pain
That no one could see

Blending with the tears
Rivulets flow freely down
Wiping away the fears
Along with my frown

Refining my spirit
Setting it free
Letting me go
To see what I can be

Washed till I’m clean
With simple rain
No longer sad
I’m free of pain

Mending my heart
So it can have a role
No longer unraveled apart
Laced to a whole

It showed me more
Than I can say
Touched me to my core
Like nothing could before

The rain cleansed me
Made me new
Helped me understand
I don’t need you

Sorry if this doesn't make alot of sense but I started to write and this is what came out. I'm looking for title suggestions. I'm not sure what to call it.

Wonderful poem, truly loved it, It flowed beautifully. I especially liked the last stanza,

    "The rain cleansed me
    Made me new
    Helped me understand
    I don’t need you"

Love that, I can't even think of words to describe this poem really, other than magnificent. Keep it up. By the way, thank you so very much for commenting on my poem, means ever so much to me. And thanks for adding my name to your profile, that is so touching. Well if I have time I will check out some more stuff. ;)

Hey, really good poem, I loved the way there was hope at the end, and I'm so glad if you have found some and are starting to move on. I think your title is good but if you want some other options maybe 'Freedom in raindrops' or something. Keep it up xxx
