They Don't Understand

-This is about my Ex-Boyfriend, Josh. I wrote it when we were together.-

Tears fall on my pillow,
At night when I cry,
I sit under the willow,
With this knife, let me die!

This love,
Thats making my heart decay,
Please knife,
Take it all away

Oh Josh,
How I love you,
But yet,
This love makes me so blue

In Colorado is where he's at,
I'm here in Ohio,
How ridiculous is that!

Your 23 and I'm 16,
Oh Josh,
There's no reasoning in between

People don't see it,
The way you and I do,
People look at me,
And then curse you

I want you to come home,
So you can be with me,
If I tell my family,
They just won't see

My mom will flip out,
Cry, scream and shout,
Where did I go wrong, she'll say,
I didn't raise you this way

I hold this knife to my wrist,
As my insides start to twist,
I want you to come home and take it away,
Then say, Baby, everythings okay

I want to cry,
Tears of joy on your shoulder,
Honey,
I just wish I was older

Some say its called depression,
Please people,
This is my life and death session!

The blade touches my wrist,
Its ice cold,
It tears at my skin,
But I'm not that bold

I throw down the knife,
As I drop to the ground,
I don't get up,
But I don't make a sound

As silent tears,
Stream down my cheeks,
I want to scream,
Josh, its you my heart seeks

But I can't say a word,
Your love's so intense,
Almost like a twister,
So instead, I just whisper

I whisper that,
I will always love you,
As I look at my wrist,
I know this is true

I can't cut anymore,
Because your in my life,
I'll ignore what people say,
Even though it causes me strife

I wait til the day I say I do,
When I become your wife,
Because Josh,
I love you more than this knife

So as I end this poem,
I'm happy to say,
Baby, I'm no longer a cutter,
I've thrown it away.
