My generation

by Lost Girl   May 12, 2005

Watch this generation slipping, way out of our control
Where once there blossomed happiness in a child’s eyes
There is now an empty flicker of a history of hatred
Each soul that can’t find hope, a burning flame has died

I gaze into the distance in hope of an easier release
Through hell’s fiery furnaces I can see a world so grey
That glimmers in the background of our existence
Making us all grow darker and lonesome with every day

Where a world that once glowed with devotion and love
Has turned a grey murkier than the distant clouded skyline
I try to reach redemption and deliverance from my sins
I see that even my friends are crying, so I fall back each time

This generation of haters, hurters, criers, cutters and sadness
Can no longer smile as their world has turned away from happiness
To a life lead by hurt and tears, where joy comes from pain
A humanity of despair and melancholy lives is left in distress

I want to break free from this cycle that always results in tears
But I am too weak to help anyone, or resist its sinful allure
So I have allowed myself to re-enter this world again
I realize there are no ways to escape it and now there is no cure
