Emerald Eyes

Secrets Storms
Ones Of Which She Fights
At Home And At School
She Cries Within The Night

Scars Are So Hard To Hide
Bruises Take So Long To Go
And The New Ones
Permit To Form And Grow

Adding a Little Powder
And Even Some Timid Base
To Cover Up The Heartache
Her Father Puts On Her Face

Silently She Sits In Class
Doing Her Work But Doesn't Speak
Her Little Body's Tiered
Her Soul Is Young But Weak

Her Teacher Thinks Shes Special
No Matter How The Children Tease
She Calls Her Emerald Eyes
It Puts The Sad At Ease

Tattered And Broken
Scars Leave Her Body Torn
a Casket With a Six Year Old
But Yet Nobody Morns

No one Comes To The Funeral
Or Visits Her At The Wake
Too Much Abuse
For Her Little Self To Take
