Living Is...

by Timothy Bledsoe   Jun 5, 2005

People say that I look at the world
Through rose colored glasses
That I see only pleasantry
Even as pain passes

Pain is a part of my life
But I choose to live
It’s a lot more than just surviving
What this world has to give

Living is so much more
Than just being alive
It’s a willingness to want
A wanting to strive

Hiding from the world
May not hurt so much
But hiding from the pain
Is like leaning on a crutch

To give everything your all
Is what living means to me
To live deeply, love passionately
To strive to be free

Pain is a part of life
But so is happiness
Living only for the pain
Is a life of emptiness

Never forget the pain
But never forsake pleasure
Live your life with joy
For it is something to treasure
