Slumber

Breathe in
breathe out
every breath is just
a reassurance of death
like the sand in an hour glass
slowly but surely
life slips away like that...
it compares
to steam
here one moment
and the next, vanishes into
thin air.
to wake in the morning
is just a call to death
a suicide attempt
one way street to eternal rest
heaven is close
but hell is closer.
no one is perfect
and that is just a gateway
for the devil to
convert you to become his follower.
your guardian angel
is nothing more than the lint in your pocket
useless.
you are your own warrior
fighting in an eternal war
and battle between good and evil.
betrayal is sometimes
the only way for you to survive.
bow to darkness
and turn your back on the light.
be it so
that it is interpreted that you only think
of yourself...
interesting
how far one will go to
ensure survival in such
a brutal world....
but no matter how hard you fight
how long you can keep your head above water
death will grab you by the hand
and drag you down the alley
like a helpless
ant being blown away by a sudden gust of wind.
no one is safe
death does not discriminate
rich or poor
young or old
death is written all over you face.
yet death
can be viewed from a completely different angle
let it be your solace
eternal peace...
remember
death is but a slumber
sweet rest when all is done.
