Abused Little Boy

I know of a story,
one so very sad,
about a young little boy,
who was told he was bad.

Everyone treated him like he was stupid,
his mother began to call him an "it"
and not one day went by,
without this boy getting hit.

This little boy just couldn't figure out,
what he had done so wrong,
to be beaten and so weak,
but yet always seemed to keep strong.

This little boy didn't understand,
why his father began drinking,
and when his father left him,
this little boy's life began sinking.

Things got so bad for him,
and all he wanted was to die,
he wanted to know some answers,
just wanted to know why.

His mother burned him by a gas stove,
and stabbed him in the chest,
she did so many horrible things,
you don't want to know the rest.

This little boy was saved,
his school nurse had told,
God sent Dave an angel,
her name was Mrs. Gold.

Through all the beatings,
Dave kept so strong,
he escaped his mother's games,
and his old life was gone.
