Life's no story book

by Lost Girl   Jun 23, 2005

The canvas is so cracked and it bares scars of yesterday
Memories that are dragged up from the bottom of the lake
Pretty little song words that dance in circles round my head
Words all mixed up, haunt both the living and the dead

Why is this all I hear, when my thoughts are what I need
You flip the record over as my hearts persists to bleed
All the words from other mouths, songs sung in another voice
Are all that’s left for me to breathe, I have no other choice

I’m gonna steal some of your thoughts, borrowed from your mind
Take them in my hands and mould them into some of mine
In my head they replay over as the CD skips though the tracks
I say your words out loud but then I wish I could take them back

But now I’m all wrapped up with thoughts all of my own
Still they penetrate deep through me and all my skin and bone
And if I had the chance I would go always go back for one more look
Because you write such pretty words….but life’s no story book…

awesome poem! i agree to how people sometimes make life seem so great but you know it isn't, not always! theres something always messed up about it. wonderful job capturing it.
