Shadows Of My Night

Spluttering and choking
One pill then two
You’ll never know
The pain I’ve been through

Heaving on fear
Of what lies ahead
There is no safe place
To lay down my head

Lost and alone
In the midst of my plague
Swallowed by fear
I’m cold and afraid

Fatigued and so frail
The shadows are near
I live every day
In constant cold fear

Dizzy and falling
My world spins around
I pick myself up
But again I break down

Sleepless and numb
They’re here for the night
Watching and waiting
Until the first light

Unconscious but stirring
I cannot survive
Begging and praying
For help to arrive
