Happiness

by **Just Her**   Jun 28, 2005

Through life we try to be strong
Not for our own well being
Nor for a feeling of satisfaction
Rather for the feeling that we belong

We believe that we can feel that way
That pretending is a perfect solution
But perfect does not exist
Yet we still strife for this anyway

A smile and laugh will cover tears
And surely enough they will
But inside, do they cover anything?
No, but to the world it covers fears

The truth can easily become lies
And lies can become the truth
Because when we hide behind masks
Anything can be twisted into our lives

We wish for happy endings, we all do
So that we know this pain meant something
And got us somewhere, instead of nowhere
So we can know we made it through

But the pain we feel now, cannot compare
To what we are bound to feel
When we actually apply ourselves
And reach out to one another and say we care

When we attempt to really be happy
We are making a huge difference
In our lives, and in the ones we care about
We are attempting to just be

Be who we are, be what we want to be
Be someone who puts friends first
And family right next to them
Instead of feeling sorry for “me”

It is so much bigger than what it seems
We are attempting to change the world
When we attempt to change ourselves for the better
So tell me now, what does happiness mean?

**Leave your thoughts on this poem, it would mean SO much to me*

Very beautifull poem. totaly understand the whole thing.
To me, the meaning of happienes is the feeling of saisfaction deep within our heatrs. the feeling that things are, of will be alright soon.
I feel happiest when I help someone else. This is the one thing that makes me feel satisfied. I have plenty of friends who need a helping hand in life, and by being this hand, I can feel good about myself, and happy.
