Dancing Alone

by Fighter (Ariane L.)   Jun 30, 2005

Sitting in the corner.
Watching.
People dance around me.
Smiles on their faces.

Their bodies close.
Dancing to the rythmn
Of the slow music.
I sit on the sidelines.
Watching.

Her head on his shoulder.
Whispers something in his ear.
Smile forms on his lips.
Lust read in his eyes.

Kisses on her neck.
Kisses on her lips.
In his ear, one more whisper.
Leaving the room together.

I sit in my corner.
Watch them leave the dance floor.
Hand in hand.
Inside, I feel my heart break.

I step onto the dance floor.
Alone.
Oblivious to the stares.
I dance by myself.

Following the sound
Of the slow music,
I dance. I dance. I dance.
Oblivious to the stares.

I dance until the pain in my heart
Is no longer bareable.
I sit back in my corner.
Tears in my eyes.
Heartbroken.
